Affects on the Environment
-Plutonium is a radioactive element and can contaminated waters. Plutonium enters the environment usually because of Nuclear weapons testing. Plants do absorb small amount of Plutonium but this is not enough to harm humans. If Plutonium gets into our waters it will effect the people drinking it. Due to Plutoniums short lives, they undergo radioactive decay quickly so it does not effect the environment a whole lot.
- Plutonium can also contaminate the soil on the earth and make it not good for agriculture. This usually happens due to accidental releases of radioactive waste.
- A pro to the use of Plutonium is it provides a clean energy in Nuclear Power
Plants. Although there is a slight let of o pollution it is a good substitute for gas
engines which let off mass amounts of pollution. Plutonium is placed into
water making it steam and turning turbines in the plant thus creating clean energy.
